Hotel Baby Tips: How to Travel with Your Newborn or Baby
Traveling with a newborn can seem daunting, but with the right planning and preparation it's definitely doable — even enjoyable! Here are some hotel baby tips to ensure your travels go smoothly.

First things first, when booking your hotel room, make sure to ask about any amenities they offer for babies. Many hotels provide Pack 'n Plays or cribs at no extra charge, but it's always best to book in advance. Also, consider requesting a quiet corner room or a suite with a separate bedroom if you need some extra space.

When packing for your trip, bring everything your baby needs to feel comfortable and secure. In addition to the usual diapers, wipes, and change of clothes, don't forget your baby's favorite blanket or stuffed animal. Familiar items can provide a sense of comfort in an unfamiliar environment.

Once you've arrived at the hotel, make sure your room is safe for your baby. Check electrical outlets to make sure they're covered and move any fragile items out of reach. Most hotels won't allow you to anchor furniture to walls like you would at home, so stay alert about potential hazards.

For feeding time, if you're still nursing or pumping, locate the nearest hospital-grade breast pump in your hotel. Many major hotel chains have this on hand for their pregnant and postpartum guests. For bottle-fed babies, don't forget to bring enough formula and bottles for your trip plus a few days extra.

Managing sleep can be tricky when travelling with a baby away from home. Try bringing a portacrib or pack 'n play from home if space allows. The familiar sight can soothe your baby, making it easier to fall asleep in an unfamiliar environment. Plus, many hotels have these on hand for use if needed at no cost!

One way to help the whole family stay healthy, especially during cold and flu season, is by packing hand sanitizer and wipes to disinfect surfaces as much as possible.

For those long car rides or flights, bring a white noise machine with you which might be very useful when settling in for the night. It can help drown out unfamiliar noises while offering some additional comfort.

If your child is teething, don't forget to pack the teether along with some pain relievers! A pacifier or lullaby music can also work wonders if your child starts fidgeting at bedtime.

A final tip: always plan extra time for everything when traveling with a baby. From getting out of the house and arriving at your hotel to planning activities during the trip.
